Embeth Davidtz and her family arrived in South Africa at the age of nine years old. Before enrolling in a South African school, she learned Afrikaans. She graduated from ‘The Glen High School’ in 1983 and then went to Rhodes University in Grahamstown.
John Davidz, her father, pursued a career in chemical engineering at Purdue University and taught at Potchefstroom University.
