Biography

May 18, 1952 marked the birth of George Harvey Strait Sr. in Poteet, Texas. John Byron Strait Sr. and Doris Jean Couser were the ones who raised him, but eventually divorced. Strait’s siblings are Buddy Strait and Pency Edel.

Strait studied agriculture at Southwest Texas State University, where he graduated with a degree in 1979 after attending Pearsall High School in Pearsall, Texas.

Personal Life

On December 4, 1971, George Strait consummated his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Norma Voss. Jenifer Lyn Strait and George “Bubba” Strait Jr., who were born on October 6, 1972, are the two children the couple have. Jenifer passed away tragically in 1986 due to a car accident at the age of 13. Jenifer Strait’s memory was honored by the establishment of the Jenifer Strait Memorial Foundation, which supports children’s charities in Texas.

The year 2006 marked Strait’s 30th year in the music industry which he celebrated with the release of a new album titled ‘It Just Comes Natural’ which featured 15 new songs. Other albums released by him include ‘Troubadour’ (2008), ‘Twang’ (2009), and ‘Here for a Good Time’ (2011). The single ‘Give It All We Got Tonight’ by Strait was released in 2013 as part of his ‘Love Is Everything’ album.

‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ was the name of his last tour organized in 2014. The concert attracted thousands of fans.
