On March 3, 1998, Jayson Tatum, who was born to Justin Tatum and Brandy Cole, was named Jayson Christopher Tatum. At the age of 19, both of his parents were not married to each other and he was conceived. At the time of his birth, his mother made the decision to raise him as a single mother. Jayson matriculated at Duke University in 2016 and missed some games in the beginning of his first college season (2016–2017) because of a foot injury. December 2016 was the date he made his debut. He scored 10 points in his debut match and helped his team win against Maine.
