While born in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, Momoa’s childhood was spent in Iowa. His father is from Hawaii, and his mother is of German-Scottish heritage. He was awarded the Hawaii Model of the Year award in 1999, leading to a role on Baywatch Hawaii.
