Biography

On May 28, 1978, Jake Johnson Weinberger was conceived, and he was born in Evanston, Illinois, US. His name was chosen after his uncle, who died in a road accident just a year before Jake was born. Jake, Dan, and Rachel, along with their siblings, were brought up by their mother. Eve Johnson, his mother, was a painter and Ken Weinberger, his father, was a car dealer. Regrettably, his parents split when he was still very young. Jake formed a strong bond with his father in his later years.

Before enrolling at the University of Iowa, Jake graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka. Jake dropped his father’s surname and replaced it with his mother’s maiden name while attending high school.

Personal Life

Jake Johnson, just like Nick Miller on New Girl, had his share of ups and downs in love. Johnson’s marriage with Erin Payne has been successful since 2005. Johnson and Payne wed in 2005 after spending three years together. The couple never confirmed their official wedding date, however, in a 2012 interview with Marie Claire, Johnson revealed that he was “happily married” and had been with his wife “for seven years” at the time. Small roles in various TV shows and shorts made Jake’s screen acting debut in 2006. In a year’s time, he was assigned a six-episode arc on Derek and Simon: The Show. He continued to appear as a guest star on TV shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Life to Me, The Unit, FlashForward, and Drunk History in the following years. In 2009, Jake began to land supporting roles in major movies like Paper Heart, Get Him to the Greek, Ceremony, and No Strings Attached.

Jake became a household name after being cast in the American sitcom TV series ‘New Girl.’ He was given the chance to play a full-fledged comedy role on TV through ‘New Girl’. In the ‘Best Actor Comedy’ category, Jake was given his first nomination for the Teen Choice Award by the show.
