His degree in economics was obtained at the University of California, San Diego, and he graduated in 2003. While in college, Buckley made an appearance on The Price Is Right as a contestant. After a year of work as an economic consultant, he returned to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

In 2011, Robert Buckley got romantically involved with model and beauty queen Jena Sims. Jena appeared in One Tree Hill as a guest star. Their relationship ended in 2012.

Career
Robert Buckley made his first TV appearance on The Price Is Right While Still A Student, but he only started acting in 2004. After moving to Los Angeles and booking his first commercial, his first appearance as an actor took place in 2004.
In 2007, Robert Buckley was cast as a regular on the NBC series Lipstick Jungle, which was his initial major project appearance. Mainstream listeners became more familiar with her due to her time on the show. His next major TV appearance was when he signed on to play Clay Evans in the teen drama series One Tree Hill.
Despite his success in television, Robert was unable to replicate it in feature films. The actor was in contention to become Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but was ultimately beaten by Chris Evans.
His feature film appearances to date are limited, the most prominent being his role as Nik in Killer Movie, the horror-comedy which starred Paul Wesley of The Vampire Diaries fame, Kaley Cuoco of The Big Theory .
