Biography

Born in Houston on August 7, 1998, Jalen Hurts is from Texas and is a native of the state. Channelview High School in Houston was the school of choice for Hurts. At Channelview High School, Jalen Hurts’ father, Averion, held the position of football coach throughout his school career.

During his senior season, he was able to run for 1,391 yards and score 25 touchdowns, while also throwing for 2,384 yards and 26 touchdowns. As a sophomore in high school, Hurts was selected as the second-team all-district player. He was given the overall MVP award for District 21-6A. He faced Texas A&M freshman running back Trayveon Williams during his high school career. Hurts was a top-notch quarterback in the 2016 class and a four-star prospect after high school.

In 2016, Hurts contested the position of starting quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team as a true freshman.
