Biography
The 42-year-old writer was born in Tehran, Iran on November 18, 1981. Parviz Pedrad (father) and Arasteh Amani (mother) have a daughter named her. In Berkeley, California, Nasim’s parents met while both were students. Both her father and mother were employed in the medical field.
Her father left his family in Germany for a year and moved to the United States. Nasim, her sister Nina, and her mother met her father again in 1984 when Nasim was three years old. The family relocated to Irvine, California in the United States.
Nina and Nasim Pedrad spent their childhood in Irvine, where they also attended school. Nasim and Nina were bilingual due to their parents’ encouragement to learn Farsi, the language of Persia, even though they were living in the States. Nasim studied at the University of California, Los Angeles. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Theater, Film, and Television at UCLA in 2003. Nasim was a part of the UCLA Spring Sing Company while studying there. Before she graduated from college, Nina Pedrad began her professional career in 2001. She was employed as a performer and comedian in various Los Angeles theaters, such as the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. In 2005, she made her film debut in The 73 Virgins as Zahra. She made her television debut in 2006 as a Waitress on Gilmore Girls. Her role as Nurse Suri in the ER was recurring from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, Saturday Night Live added Nasim Pedrad to its cast.
Nasim Pedrad became a repertory player in the 2011-2012 season after having been a featured player on SNL for two years.
In 2014, Nasim quit SNL to work on a new Fox sitcom called Mulaney. Fox terminated Mulaney’s production on October 18th, 2014 by slicing the number of episodes from 16 to 13.
Pedrad produced and directed Chad, a TBS sitcom, in 2021. The voice of Greta was given to her by her in Pretzel And The Puppies in 2022.
