The actor is an American citizen of mixed descent. His father is Puerto Rican and his mother is African-American. At the age of six, Martinez and Clara Jackson divorced, and Reggie’s father raised him with his brother. His mother and three of his sisters left together. After attending Cheltenham High, the baseball coach moved to Arizona State University on a college football scholarship, but later switched to the sport of baseball.

Career
Reggie started his Major League Baseball journey by joining the Kansas City Athletics in 1967. After moving to Oakland, California, he became a member of the Oakland Athletics (A’s). During his nine-year tenure with the A’s, he won both the American League MVP award and the World Series MVP award in 1973. He left in 1975. In 1976, the American coach agreed to a one-season contract with the Baltimore Orioles. For five seasons, he was a member of the New York Yankees. The World Series MVP award and the Babe Ruth Award were both won by him in 1977. Due to hitting three home runs in game six of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, he was given the nickname Mr. October.
Reggie was signed to a five-year contract by the owner of the California Angels, Gene Autry, from 1982 to 1986 and returned to his first team, the Oakland Athletics, for a single year ( 1987). On October 4th, 1987, he played his final game. After 21 seasons and hitting 563 home runs, he retired at the age of 41.
