The birth date of Young Dolph was July 27th, 1985, when he was born to Black-American parents. Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. was given the name by his parents. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived there for the first two years of his life. In 1987, his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. Because his parents were addicted to cocaine, his grandmother took care of him. Young Dolph’s life was rarely affected by their addiction. Young Dolph has a total of four siblings, including two brothers and two sisters. Juice WRLD has a second cousin named him.

In November 2022, a third suspect was indicted for the murder of Young Dolph and the conspiracy to murder 43-year-old Hernandez Govan, whom is alleged to have ordered the murder of Dolph.
