Biography

Austin, Texas, United States was the birthplace of Steven James Anderson on December 18, 1964. James and Beverly Anderson separated when he was only a year old, resulting in many ups and downs in his childhood. The surname Williams was given to Austin by his stepfather, Ken Williams, who married his mother in 1968.

Most of Steve Austin’s childhood was spent in Edna, Texas, where he graduated from Edna High School. At Wharton County Junior College, he was awarded a football scholarship and later a full scholarship by the University of North Texas.

Personal Life

On November 24, 1990, Austin married Kathryn Burrhus, the person he loved most at high school. His marriage to Burrhus came to an end when he began dating Chris Adams’ former girlfriend, Jeanie Clarke, also known as ‘Lady Blossom’.

On December 18, 1992, Austin and Clarke tied the knot. They were soon blessed with two daughters, Stephanie and Cassidy. Jade, the daughter of Clarke, was also adopted by Austin and Chris. Austin and Clarke ended their marriage in 1999.

On September 13, 2000, Austin wed his wrestling valet, Debra Marshall. In 2002, Austin was charged with domestic violence by Debra. On June 15, she contacted the police and informed them that Austin had assaulted her on the head, back, and legs before leaving the house. He divorced Debra in 2003.

Career

In 1989, Tone Cold began his wrestling career by joining Chris Adams’ school at the Dallas Sportatorium, where he trained. In 1991, Austin made his first appearance on WCW, defeating Bobby Eaton and winning his first WCW World Television Championship. He was a member of the Dangerous Alliance faction during his time at WCW. In 1993, he formed a tag team called The Hollywood Blonds with Brian Pillman. The ‘WCW Tag Team Championship’ was won and held by them for five months. Stone Cold also participated in the 1995 edition of ‘Extreme Championship Wrestling’ (ECW).

After finally joining ‘WCW’, he took on the nickname ‘Stunning.’ In 1991, he made his ‘WCW’ debut, defeating Bobby Eaton and winning his first ‘WCW World Television Championship. Paul E’s ‘The Dangerous Alliance’ was the group he joined, but it disbanded within a few months. Austin’s title was lost to Ricky Steamboat after he defended it for a while. In 1993, he teamed up with Brian Pillman to form the tag-team ‘The Hollywood Blonds’. The ‘WCW Tag Team Championship’ was won by them and they held it for five months.

From 1996 till the time of his retirement, Austin won 1996 King of the Ring tournament as well as 1997, 1998 and 2001 Royal Rumbles, making him the only wrestler to win the competition thrice. The next day, Austin announced his retirement on WWE. He acknowledged that he had exercised his body contrary to his doctor’s advice.

He returned to his non-wrestling role as the ‘Sheriff’ of Raw from 2003 to 2004. After appearing on and off the screen for some time, Austin eventually parted ways with WWE.
