Biography
Gloria McFarlin and Randolph Scott, former pastor and singer in The Scott Three, were the parents of Tamika Scott, who was born on November 19, 1974. LaTocha Scott, her elder sibling, is also a singer and Xscape member.
As a youngster, Scott was encouraged to sing in church and participate in local talent shows by his family who were musically inclined. She finished her studies at Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia and graduated in 1993.
Personal Life
Scott’s initial baby, O’Shun Reney, was born in 1994 with the help of Darius Byas. Byas and she got married at the end of that year, leading to the birth of their second child, Taniyah, in 1999. The couple divorced in the early 2000s. Scott’s marriage to bodyguard Darnell Winston in 2004 resulted in their daughter being born in July 2013.
Career
During his high school years, Scott came into contact with Kandi Burruss, who and her sister LaTocha started singing together. Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle was added to the group Xscape after they recruited her. Jermaine Dupri discovered the group and arranged for their signing with So So Def Recordings. Their debut album, ‘Hummin’ Comein’ Atcha,’ was certified platinum by the RIAA in 1993. Scott was the lead singer for numerous hits of the band, such as ‘Love on My Mind,’ ‘Who Can I Run To,’ and ‘The Arms of the One Who Loves You.’
Following the disbandment of Xscape in 1998, Scott made an attempt at acting, appearing in Tyler Perry’s stage play ‘Meet the Browns’ in 2004.
